Why MSRHM?
The challenge
Men and boys, in all their diversity, have significant unmet sexual and reproductive health (SRH) needs that affect their health and wellbeing. Yet men’s own sexual and reproductive health remains under-recognised in policy, research and practice.
This creates gaps in information, services and support and misses opportunities to engage men comprehensively in an important part of their health and lives. Greater attention to men’s SRH can improve outcomes for men themselves, while contributing to better health and wellbeing for their partners and wider society, and advancing gender equality.
Our Vision
Men's Sexual and Reproductive Health Matters (MSRHM) responds to this challenge. We want a world where men’s sexual and reproductive health is fully recognised, supported and integrated into health systems and policy.
We envision men of all ages, backgrounds and identities having access to the information, services and support they need; being empowered to make informed choices about their SRH; and being meaningfully included in SRH policy and debates.
As part of Men and Policy, we seek strengthened public policy for men and boys, for the benefit of everyone.
Leadership and governance
Dr Tim Shand founded MSRHM in 2025, as an initiative of Men and Policy. Tim has worked on men’s SRH for two decades. He is also an Honorary Research Fellow on SRH at Queen Margaret University, UK, and Policy Consultant for Global Action on Men’s Health. He a He has spoken and written widely on men's SRH, health and masculinities.
