About Us
The challenge
Men and boys in the UK, in their diversity, have critical unmet needs across their sexual and reproductive health (SRH) which impact on their health and well-being. Despite these unmet needs, and the broader benefits of further engaging men in the SRH for others, men’s own SRH remains an area limited in both policy and practice. Neglecting men’s SRH can also reinforce traditional masculine gender norms, further entrenching gender inequalities. This results in missed opportunities for working with men in a critical component of their lives, and undermines efforts to create the more inclusive, comprehensive and data-driven SRH policymaking necessary for wider societal benefits.
Vision
We seek a world where men’s SRH is fully recognised, supported and integrated into health care systems and policy.

We believe that advancing men's sexual and reproductive health is essential to improving men's health outcomes and the health outcomes of women, other men, and non-binary people.

We envision a future in which men in all their diversity – from all ages, backgrounds, and identities – have access to comprehensive SRH services, are empowered to make choices about their health, and are active in broader SRH discussions. By advancing research, advocacy, and raising awareness, MSRHM seeks to eliminate stigma, reduce health disparities, and ensure that men’s SRH is prioritised as a fundamental component of public health policy.
Unique role
MSRHM’s work is informed by a landscape analysis of existing charities and organisations working on SRH in the UK, which has identified a gap in a dedicated and comprehensive focus on men’s SRH beyond the critical existing work of those advancing key SRH issues (such as HIV and AIDS) and on key at-risk populations (such as gay, bisexual, and other men who have sex with men). MSRHM works to complement and support the current work of these organisations.
Leadership and Governance
Founded in 2025, MSRHM is led by Dr Tim Shand. Tim has worked on men’s SRH for two decades. He leads ShandClarke Consulting, is an Honorary Research Fellow on SRH and gender at Queen Margaret University, UK, and Policy Consultant for Global Action on Men’s Health. He a Board member of the new UK Centre for Policy Research on Men and Boys (CPRMB).
